Data anonymization: Anonymize™

Fake data that still joins
  • Xcase finds the personal data: discovery scans your schema for names, emails, phone numbers, and card numbers, and scores each match.
  • Group columns that mean the same thing and anonymize each value identically everywhere it appears - even an identifier spread across twenty tables - so joins and counts survive.
  • The output is plain SQL: preview the conversions, inspect the script, run it here or in your own pipeline.
  • Document what is anonymized, by which method, in which tables - the evidence a compliance review asks for.

Anonymize sensitive data consistently, with plain-SQL output and audit documentation.

Sensitive-column discovery with match scoring

  • Once a category is defined, you need to determine which columns in your database belong to it.

  • Xcase™ enables the identification of sensitive data with multiple instances using metadata, semantics, relationships, and physical data, allowing for consistent anonymization.

Column groups for consistent replacement across tables

  • Usable: Readable, pronounceable.

  • Coherent: Same data anonymized consistently.

  • Contextual: Attributes match context (e.g., gendered surnames).

  • Culturally Relevant: Data (names, addresses...) fits local geography and culture.

  • Persistent: Same anonymization when reloading data for consistent Test/Dev environment..

  • Conforms: Passes database/app validations.

  • Secure: Irreversible, prevents original value recovery.

Identifier re-keying that preserves referential integrity

An identifier that appears across many tables receives one new value, applied identically everywhere - 10474 becomes 88213 in every table at once. Joins keep joining, counts stay identical, and no trace of the original key survives.

  • Consistent by construction: one group, one rule, every table.
  • Foreign keys stay valid - the anonymized database still behaves like a database.

Six anonymization methods per group, including custom SQL

  • Define the various categories of data that must be anonymized, such as customers’ names, addresses, IDs, IBANs, credit card numbers, and more.

  • Select from a variety of anonymization techniques tailored to specific needs, ensuring the anonymized data fulfills your application's constraints and validation requirements.

Preview of original vs anonymized values before execution

Before a single row changes, preview original and anonymized values side by side and confirm each method does exactly what you expect. Then run the generated SQL - here, or in your own pipeline.

Generated, reviewable SQL anonymization scripts

  • Consistent Database Anonymization: Securely stored anonymization dictionaries guarantee uniformity across all anonymized data.

  • Unified Dictionaries: Ensures consistent dictionaries across multiple heterogeneous databases.

  • Automated Anonymization: Anonymize generates reusable SQL scripts for consistent and repeatable anonymization of non-production databases.

Exportable anonymization documentation and diagrams

  • Export the anonymization groups and elements as a CSV file.

  • Create Entity Relationship Diagrams showing all the anonymized columns.
